FAQ
What is a river barrier?
A river barrier is a floating system placed in rivers to capture plastic waste before it flows into the ocean.
How does sponsoring work?
Companies can sponsor one or multiple sections of a river barrier. Your company name or logo will be displayed on the sponsored section.
Where will the barriers be installed?
The barriers will be installed in rivers around Kuta, Lombok, focusing on areas with high plastic flow during the rainy season.
Can we suggest a river location?
Yes! Sponsors are welcome to suggest rivers or locations where they would like to support a barrier installation.
When will the project start?
The first barriers are planned to be installed from October onwards, in preparation for the rainy season.
What happens to the collected plastic?
The collected plastic will be sorted and processed locally by Honest Made and our community partners whenever possible.
Will we receive updates?
Yes. Sponsors will receive updates, photos, and impact reports from the barrier they support.
Can individuals sponsor a barrier too?
Of course! At the moment, the program is mainly focused on businesses and organizations, but individual support is always welcome!
Why is this important?
During the rainy season, large amounts of plastic waste travel through rivers into the ocean. River barriers help intercept this waste at the source and protect Lombok’s coastline and marine ecosystems.
